MCP server
Google Workspace MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and your own agents
Google's Workspace MCP servers are in developer preview, one per product: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat and Classroom, each enabled in a Google Cloud project. Mojobase's one MCP server reaches your Gmail and Google Calendar through a single address, beside its own documents, tasks, customers and Handbook. It doesn't read Google Drive.

How does Google Workspace's own MCP server compare with Mojobase's?
| What matters | Mojobase MCP | Google Workspace's own |
|---|---|---|
| Status | Available to every Mojobase company | Developer Preview, for members of the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program1 |
| How many servers | One address for every app, with one search across all of them | Each Google Workspace product has its own dedicated MCP server2 |
| Which Google apps | Gmail and Google Calendar; Drive, Docs and Sheets aren't read | Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat and Classroom, plus the People API3 |
| What agents can do | Search and read mail, write drafts, find free time, create events and hold slots | Read: search emails, retrieve files, list calendar events. Act: create draft emails, upload files, schedule meetings4 |
| Setup | Connect your Google account once in Mojobase, then add one address to your agent | A Google Cloud project with each product's API and MCP API enabled, an OAuth consent screen, and a configured Chat app for the Chat server5 |
Which tools does your agent get for Google Workspace through Mojobase?
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
mail_search | Full-text search across your Gmail and any other mailbox you can see |
mail_thread | A whole Gmail conversation, oldest first, including other folders |
draft_reply | A reply written as a draft in Gmail's own thread, under the agent's name |
calendar_find_times | Free times across your Google calendars and your teammates' busy times |
calendar_create | A new event, at once if it has no guests, otherwise as a proposal you approve |
docs_search | Search Mojobase Documents, where the business's files and documents live |
task_add | A task for you or a teammate, linked to the email it came from |
mojobase_search | One search across mail, events, files, tasks and Handbook pages |
What can you ask your agent once it's connected?
- “What did the client say in their last three emails, and when are we meeting next?”
- “Draft a reply to every Gmail thread where a customer asked for a quote this week.”
- “Find two hours with the team next week for the planning session.”
- “Turn the actions in Monday's email from Sam into tasks.”
Which should you use: Google's Workspace MCP servers or Mojobase's?
Use Google's if your agent needs Drive, Docs, Sheets or Google Chat, you're in Google's developer preview, and you can run a Cloud project with an OAuth client. Use Mojobase's if the agent's work is mail, meetings and the business around them: one address gives it Gmail and Google Calendar next to tasks, customers, documents and the Handbook, with one search across all of it and nothing to set up in Google Cloud.
What does one address change for an agent?
It changes what the agent can connect. With one server per product, "what's going on with Northside?" means asking Gmail, Calendar and Drive separately and joining the answers in the conversation. Through Mojobase, mojobase_search returns the thread, the meeting and the related task in one ranked list, and the agent acts with one set of permissions, which belong to the person who connected it.
How do Mojobase's rules apply to Google mail and calendars?
The same way as to any mailbox or calendar in Mojobase. Mail an agent writes in a Gmail thread stays a draft unless you've allowed scheduling, and nothing deletes, moves or marks mail. On Google calendars, events with no guests change at once with Undo, and anything that reaches a guest waits for your approval. Every call shows in Activity under the agent's name.
Questions people ask
Is there an official Google Workspace MCP server?
Google publishes one MCP server for each Workspace product, in developer preview for members of the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat and Classroom. Each is enabled separately in a Google Cloud project.
Does Mojobase's MCP server read Google Drive?
No. Mojobase reaches Gmail and Google Calendar from your Google account. Files your agent works with live in Mojobase Documents instead, which it searches and reads, and edits by proposal.
Do I need a Google Cloud project to use Mojobase's MCP server?
No. You connect your Google account once inside Mojobase, through Google's usual permission screen, and your agent adds Mojobase's address. Google's own servers need a Cloud project, enabled APIs and an OAuth client.
Can I use both Google's servers and Mojobase's?
Yes. An agent can hold several MCP connections, so Google's Drive or Sheets server can sit beside Mojobase. Give each one only the access it needs, and remember the agent sees the sum of them.
