Use case
Shopify and Amazon sales and ad spend, every morning
Mojobase Numbers reads Shopify and Amazon sales and Meta, Google and Amazon Ads spend each day, adds them up the same way and works out one return on ad spend. Each morning yesterday is compared with the same weekday last week, and the AI notes what changed and why. It shows sales and ad spend, not profit or bookkeeping.
How does Mojobase track sales and ad spend every morning, step by step?
Connect the stores
In Settings → Connections, an owner connects Shopify and Amazon Seller Central once. Mojobase reads each day's sales and orders, read-only.
Connect the ad accounts
Meta Ads, Google Ads and Amazon Ads connect the same way. Mojobase reads spend and each platform's own claim of the sales its ads made, by campaign and day.
One morning number
Total sales is the big number, with total ad spend, return on ad spend and orders beside it. Yesterday is compared with the same weekday last week, since a Monday and a Saturday aren't alike.
By channel and by platform
Shopify and Amazon each show sales, orders and average order. Each ad platform shows spend, its claimed sales and its campaigns by spend.
The note on what changed
The morning sweep reads the numbers next to your email and tasks and flags what's unusual, such as Meta spend up 38% with Shopify sales flat, and which campaigns account for it.
From a number to an action
Each note has Ask, for the follow-up question, and Make a task, so “review the two Meta campaigns” lands on someone's list with the numbers attached.
What do you say to start it?
- “What did Amazon do yesterday?”
- “Why is return on ad spend down this week?”
- “Compare Shopify and Amazon sales for last month, by week.”
- “Which campaigns took most of this week's Meta spend?”
- “Make a task for Priya to review the Google campaigns before Friday.”
What does Mojobase count as sales, spend and return on ad spend?
The same measure on every channel, so the totals add up. These are the definitions Numbers uses:
| Measure | What it is | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Sales | What was ordered, before tax, shipping and refunds | Shopify's gross sales; Amazon's ordered product sales |
| Orders | Orders placed that day | Shopify and Amazon |
| Ad spend | What each platform says it spent | Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads |
| Return on ad spend | Total sales ÷ total ad spend, across everything | Worked out by Mojobase |
| Platform's claimed sales | The sales each platform says its ads made | Each platform, shown as its own figure |
| Days | Midnight to midnight in your company's time zone | Your company settings |
Which periods can you see?
Today so far, yesterday, the last 7 days, this month and last month, each compared with the period before. One chart shows the last 30 days: sales by channel for each day, with ad spend on the same dollar scale. Amazon and the ad platforms revise recent days, so Mojobase reads the last seven again on every sync, and yesterday's number settles by itself.
Why put sales and ad spend next to the rest of the business?
Because dashboards show what changed, not why. Spend up and sales flat could be a campaign that stopped working, a product out of stock, or a price change, and the reason is usually in an email or a task, not in the ad manager. Mojobase's morning note is written by an AI that reads the supplier threads, the support inbox and the tasks next to the numbers, so it can say “sales are flat because the bestseller is out of stock until Thursday, per the supplier's email” instead of just drawing the line.
What doesn't this replace?
Deep analytics tools for Shopify and Amazon do more with charts, cohorts and attribution models, and a business that lives in those keeps them. Mojobase keeps the page simple and puts the effort into the AI that reads the numbers with everything else. It doesn't calculate profit, connect the bank or keep the books.
Questions people ask
How does Mojobase calculate return on ad spend?
Total sales divided by total ad spend, across every store and ad platform you've connected. Each platform's own figure is shown separately and marked as theirs, because Meta, Google and Amazon each take credit for some of the same sales.
Does Mojobase show profit?
No. Profit needs your product costs and Shopify's and Amazon's fees, which Mojobase doesn't read, and it doesn't connect your bank or do bookkeeping. It shows sales, orders, ad spend and return on ad spend.
Which marketplaces and currencies does it cover?
Shopify, and Amazon's US store, in US dollars. Other Amazon marketplaces, other currencies and other ad platforms such as TikTok aren't included.
Who can see the numbers?
Owners, to start with, because the numbers are the company's. An owner can let other members of the team in, and the AI sees them only for people who can.
Can Mojobase pause ads or change budgets?
No. Every connection is read-only: Mojobase reads daily totals and changes nothing in Shopify, Amazon or your ad accounts. Pausing a campaign stays in the platform's own ads manager.
