Todoist integration

Mojobase and Todoist

Mojobase imports Todoist into Tasks in one step: projects, sections, open tasks and subtasks, due dates, repeats, deadlines, priorities, labels and who each task is assigned to. It's a one-way import, not a live sync, and you can run it again to bring over anything new. One Undo takes the whole import back.

What does Mojobase read from Todoist?

  • Projects, with your Todoist Inbox going into your Mojobase Inbox; archived projects stay behind
  • Sections, open tasks and subtasks, with descriptions
  • Due dates and times, repeat rules such as "every!", deadlines and durations
  • Priorities (p1 to p4) and labels
  • Who each task is assigned to, matched by email address to people already in Mojobase

Used by: Tasks, the AI's scheduled runs, Quick actions and your own agents over MCP.

How do you connect Todoist to Mojobase?

  1. In Todoist on the web, open Settings → Integrations → Developer and click Copy API token.
  2. In Mojobase Tasks, open Task Settings, find Import from Todoist, paste the token and click Import.
  3. Mojobase reads your Todoist with it once, then forgets it: the token is never stored.
  4. Check the result. If anything looks wrong, one Undo removes the whole import.

What can you ask once Todoist is connected?

  • “Plan my day from what came over from Todoist.”
  • “Which imported tasks have no due date and no project? Suggest where each belongs.”
  • “Which of my Todoist tasks were really waiting on an email reply?”
  • “Break the website launch task into subtasks for the team.”

What should you know about Todoist itself?

  • Your API token: Found on the web at Settings → Integrations → Developer → Copy API token; Issue a new API token replaces it1
  • Todoist's API: API v1, which also documents a hosted Todoist MCP server, a CLI and agent skills2
  • Todoist's own MCP server: Hosted at https://ai.todoist.net/mcp over Streamable HTTP, with OAuth; works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others3

Why move from Todoist to Mojobase Tasks?

Because the work starts in your email, and Mojobase sees it there. Todoist holds the tasks you remember to type in. Mojobase Tasks also notices the ones you don't, such as a promise you made in an email, and suggests each with a link back to where it came from. Quick Add uses the same syntax you know from Todoist, so #project, p1 and "every Friday" keep working.

What happens to Todoist's dates, repeats and priorities?

They come across as they were. Due dates keep their time and time zone, repeat rules keep Todoist's meaning (every repeats from the date, every! from when you finish), and deadlines and durations stay attached. Priorities keep their order, with p1 still the most urgent. Subtasks stay under their parent, and sections stay inside their project.

Can you try Mojobase without leaving Todoist?

Yes. Import, try Tasks for a week, and keep Todoist open alongside. Since the import never writes to Todoist, nothing there changes, and running it again picks up what you added in Todoist meanwhile. When you've moved for good, archive the projects in Todoist; if you change your mind, one Undo takes the import back out of Mojobase.

Questions people ask

Does Mojobase sync with Todoist?

No. It's a one-way import: Mojobase reads Todoist and writes nothing back. Run it again later and it adds only what's new, without overwriting tasks you've changed in Mojobase since.

Do shared Todoist projects come across with their members?

Yes, for people who are already in your Mojobase company, matched by email address. A task assigned to someone who isn't here yet comes across unassigned, and running the import again assigns it once they've joined.

Does Mojobase keep my Todoist API token?

No. The token is used for that one import and never stored, logged or shown again. If you'd like to be sure, issue a new token in Todoist afterwards; the old one stops working.

What doesn't come across from Todoist?

Completed tasks, archived projects, comments, location reminders and Todoist's own filters stay in Todoist. Everything open, with its dates, repeats, labels and assignees, comes across.

Should I keep Todoist and connect my AI to it instead?

If tasks are the only thing you want your AI to manage, Todoist's own MCP server does that well. Move to Mojobase when you want tasks next to the email, calendar and customers they come from.
