Which should you choose, Mojobase or Asana?

Choose Asana if

  • You plan projects with timelines, Gantt charts, portfolios, goals and resource management.
  • You need approvals and proofing, forms that turn requests into tasks, and custom fields.
  • You want AI agents for marketing, operations and IT workflows, and a free plan for two.

Choose Mojobase if

  • Your tasks start in emails from customers and suppliers, and you want them found and chased without copying.
  • You'd like tasks next to the customer, the meeting and the invoice they relate to. Mojobase is built for 1 to 25 people, and it works well for teams up to 100.
  • You want AI included without counting requests per user.

What's the real difference between Mojobase and Asana?

Asana is built for planned work. Projects shown as lists, boards, calendars, timelines and Gantt charts roll up into portfolios and goals, with resource management, time tracking, approvals and proofing on Advanced. Forms turn requests into tasks, and automations route them.

Mojobase is built for work that arrives. A customer asks for a revised quote by Thursday, a supplier says the delivery has slipped, someone promises in a meeting to send the deck: in Mojobase each becomes a suggested task with a link to where it came from, in the same place as the email, the calendar and the customer. Its task list is simpler than Asana's, on purpose.

How does the AI compare?

Asana's AI centres on AI Teammates, more than 30 prebuilt agents for marketing, operations and IT, and Asana Dash, an "AI chief of staff" that routes work to them and surfaces next steps from meetings, Slack and email. They share a pool of requests: 5 per user a month, capped per account, with more at $0.50 or $0.60 each. AI Studio builds no-code automations on separate credits, and AI Meetings on Advanced suggests action items from meetings.

Mojobase's AI reads the email, calendar and tasks directly, because they're in the same place. "Plan my day" suggests a short focus list with a reason for each, and moves for the rest. Stale overdue tasks get a suggestion to move or drop them. Anything affecting another person, such as assigning or nudging, always asks first; your own tasks can be set to Auto, with a daily summary and Undo.

Which one costs less for a team of five?

Asana Starter is $10.99 a user a month billed annually, or $13.49 monthly, and Advanced is $24.99 or $30.49. Personal is free for two users. Mojobase for five is $139 a month, or $105 for the first 10 companies, for life.

Asana costs less for project management alone. Mojobase's price also covers email, team chat, calendar, documents, a CRM, a support inbox and Stripe invoice tracking.

Where is Asana the better choice?

Asana is the better choice for teams that run projects and programmes. Timeline and Gantt views, portfolios, goals, resource management, capacity planning, approvals and proofing, custom fields and 100 or more free integrations are well beyond Mojobase's Tasks. Agencies and marketing teams with many parallel projects will want Asana. A small business whose to-do list comes from its inbox will find Mojobase does more with less setup.

Questions people ask

Is Mojobase a project management tool like Asana?

Partly. Mojobase Tasks has projects with sections, subtasks, assignees, due dates, recurring tasks, reminders and labels, shown as lists and on the calendar. It has no board, timeline or Gantt view, portfolios, goals or time tracking, which Asana includes. Teams running complex projects should stay with Asana.

How much does Asana cost?

Asana Personal is free for up to two users. Starter is $10.99 a user a month billed annually, or $13.49 monthly, and Advanced is $24.99 billed annually, or $30.49 monthly. Enterprise is priced on request. Guests are free on paid plans.

How does Asana charge for AI?

Per request. Each user gets 5 AI Teammate and Asana Dash requests a month, capped at 50 per account on Starter and Advanced; extra requests are $0.50 prepaid or $0.60 pay as you go. AI Studio automations use separate monthly credits. Mojobase's AI is included up to a monthly allowance.

Can Mojobase find tasks in my email?

Yes. When an email asks for real work or carries a date, Mojobase suggests a task linked to it. When you send the reply that does the work, it suggests ticking the task off and shows the reply as evidence. Suggestions wait for a click unless you set them to Auto.

Can I import from Asana?

Not directly. Mojobase Tasks imports from Todoist. Asana's MCP server and Mojobase's can both be added to Claude or ChatGPT, so an assistant can read an Asana project and create the tasks in Mojobase if you want to move it.
