Grok and Mojobase
Use Grok with your whole business
Grok connects to Mojobase as a custom MCP connector. On grok.com, open Connectors, add a custom connector with your company's Mojobase address and sign in; in Grok's CLI or the xAI API, add the server with a key. Grok then reads and drafts across your email, calendar, documents, tasks, customers and Handbook, acting as you.

How do you connect Grok to Mojobase?
grok.com and the Grok apps
Connectors are open to every Grok user. On Grok Business and Enterprise plans, a team admin adds Mojobase first in the xAI console, under Grok Business → Connectors → + Add Connector → Other; members then connect their own accounts.
- In Mojobase, open Settings → Connect an agent and copy your company's address. It starts with
https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp/. - Go to grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, then Custom.
- Paste the address and sign in with your Mojobase account when asked.
- Ask Grok something about your business. It finds Mojobase's tools and uses them when the question needs them.
Grok CLI
For developers and anyone who works in the terminal. It uses a key you make in Mojobase.
- In Mojobase, open Settings → Connect an agent and make a key. It's shown once, so copy it into
MOJOBASE_KEYin your shell profile. - Run
grok mcp add --transport http mojobase https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ${MOJOBASE_KEY}". - Run
grok mcp doctor mojobaseto check the connection, or open/mcpsin the Grok TUI.
Your own app on the xAI API
For developers building their own agent on Grok models. xAI connects to the MCP server for you; there's no MCP client to write.
- Make a key in Settings → Connect an agent, as for the CLI.
- In a Responses API request, add a tool with
type: "mcp",server_url: "https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp",server_label: "mojobase"andauthorizationset to the key. - Add
allowed_toolswith only the tools the job needs, since the API doesn't support asking for approval before a call.
- Custom connectors: Available to all Grok users; added at grok.com/connectors with New Connector, then Custom, an MCP server URL and any sign-in it needs1
- Grok Business and Enterprise: A team admin must add a connector in the cloud console before team members can connect and use it2
- Built-in connectors: Gmail & Google Calendar, Google Drive, OneDrive, Outlook Mail & Calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Salesforce, each connected with an OAuth sign-in3
- Grok's own Gmail connector: Reads by default; can send, reply and forward once an organization's admins enable send tools4
- Grok CLI: grok mcp add --transport http adds a remote server; --header adds a static auth header, and ${VAR} expands from the environment5
- xAI API: Remote MCP tools work in the xAI SDK and the OpenAI-compatible Responses API, over Streaming HTTP or SSE; require_approval isn't supported6
What can you ask Grok once it's connected?
- “What came in overnight that I need to deal with before 9?”
- “Draft a polite no to the sponsorship email, citing our Handbook policy.”
- “Which of this week's meetings have no agenda yet? Write one for each.”
- “Make a task for every promise I made in today's emails.”
Should you use Grok's own Gmail connector or Mojobase?
Use Grok's own connector if Gmail and Google Calendar are the whole job. It connects in one sign-in, and it can send mail once your admin enables that. Use Mojobase when the question reaches beyond one inbox: other mailboxes, tasks, customers, store numbers and the Handbook, with one search across all of them, and every action recorded in one Activity log with Undo.
How do you build your own Grok agent on Mojobase?
Name Mojobase as a tool in an xAI API request, and xAI connects to the server and calls its tools for you. Limit the tools to what the job needs; this request lets Grok search mail and write reply drafts, and nothing else:
{
"model": "grok-4.7",
"input": "Draft replies to customer emails from today that still need an answer.",
"tools": [{
"type": "mcp",
"server_url": "https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp",
"server_label": "mojobase",
"authorization": "YOUR_KEY",
"allowed_tools": ["mail_search", "mail_thread", "draft_reply"]
}]
}
Each draft lands in Mojobase Email under the agent's name, for a person to check and send. A key allows 120 requests a minute.
What can Grok see once it's connected to Mojobase?
Exactly what the person who connected it can see. Grok acts as that person, with their role and only the apps they may open, so a teammate's private mailbox and calendar details stay out of reach. Every tool call is recorded in Activity with Grok's name, and switching off its access in Settings → Connect an agent stops it at once.
What does Grok add that Mojobase's built-in AI doesn't?
Grok is the assistant you talk to; Mojobase's built-in AI works inside the apps. The built-in AI sorts new mail, drafts replies and runs scheduled sweeps without being asked. Grok brings its own model and its other connectors, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint and Salesforce, into the same conversation, so one question can draw on Mojobase and on files or records that live elsewhere.
Questions people ask
Does Grok support MCP connectors?
Yes. grok.com takes custom MCP connectors next to its built-in and catalog ones, Grok's CLI adds MCP servers with grok mcp add, and the xAI API connects to remote MCP servers inside a request. All three work with Mojobase.
Can a Grok Business team use Mojobase?
Yes. A team admin adds Mojobase once as a custom connector in the xAI console, under Grok Business → Connectors. Each member then connects with their own Mojobase account on grok.com, so Grok sees only what that person may see.
Can Grok send email through Mojobase?
Grok writes drafts recorded under its name. It can schedule them when “Schedule mail, and change what is scheduled” is on in Email Settings → AI and agents. Mail to other addresses also needs Email Settings → General → Send to anyone.
Does using Grok with Mojobase cost extra?
No. Grok runs on your own Grok plan, or your xAI API account for your own apps, and connecting it to Mojobase is free, since agents are never counted as seats.
