MCP server

Outlook MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and your own agents

There are two ways to give an AI agent Outlook over MCP. Microsoft's Work IQ MCP server covers Microsoft 365 with generic tools, signs in with Microsoft Entra ID and is paid in Copilot Credits. Mojobase's works on the Outlook mailboxes and calendars you connect, drafts rather than sends, and reaches your tasks, files and customers too.

Which tools does your agent get for Outlook through Mojobase?

ToolWhat it does
mail_searchFull-text search across every mailbox you can see, Outlook and others, newest first
mail_threadA whole conversation, oldest first, across folders
mail_attachment_textThe text inside an attached PDF, Word, Excel or CSV file
draft_replyWrites a reply as a draft, with the recipients worked out, recorded under the agent's name
draft_newA new message as a draft, from the mailbox you choose
calendar_listEvents between two dates on your Outlook and other calendars
calendar_find_timesFree times to offer, inside working hours, clear of named teammates' busy times
mojobase_searchOne search across mail, events, files, tasks and Handbook pages

What can you ask your agent once it's connected?

  • “Summarise what the accountant sent this week and draft a reply to anything that needs one.”
  • “Which Outlook threads with clients ended with a question from them?”
  • “Draft an email to everyone on Thursday's meeting with the agenda.”
  • “What does the spreadsheet attached to the supplier's last email say about prices?”

Which should you use: Microsoft's Work IQ MCP server or Mojobase's?

Use Microsoft's if your company runs on Microsoft 365 and Copilot, and your agent should also reach your Microsoft 365 files and Teams chats, under your tenant's own policies. Use Mojobase's if your agent should work across Outlook and the rest of a small business, such as tasks, customers, store numbers and the Handbook, or you use a personal Outlook.com account. Both act as the signed-in person.

How do named tools differ from Microsoft's generic ones?

Microsoft's design keeps the tool list short: an agent fetches /me/messages or creates an entity at /me/events, and asks for a path's schema when it needs one. That reaches all of Microsoft 365, and leaves the agent to work out which paths to call. Mojobase names each job instead, so an agent calls draft_reply on a message and gets a draft with the right recipients and quoting, or calendar_find_times and gets slots that fit everyone's working hours.

What can't an agent do in Outlook through Mojobase?

Anything that can't be taken back without you. No agent can delete, move or mark mail in any Mojobase app. Mail to people outside your own addresses goes only once Email Settings → General → Send to anyone is switched on, which only the page can change. On an Outlook calendar, meetings with guests are changed in Outlook itself, because Microsoft sends the guests an update on every change. And an agent never sees a mailbox the person who connected it can't.

Questions people ask

Is there an official Outlook MCP server?

Microsoft's current one is the Work IQ MCP server, a single endpoint for Microsoft 365 that includes mail and calendar. Its older app-specific Mail and Calendar servers in Agent 365 are kept only for backward compatibility.

Can an AI agent send Outlook email over MCP?

Microsoft's Work IQ server can send mail directly. Mojobase's tools write drafts and can schedule them when you've allowed it, and every draft and send shows in Activity under the agent's name.

Does Mojobase's Outlook MCP work with a personal Outlook.com account?

Yes. Mojobase connects through Microsoft's own sign-in, which takes personal Outlook.com and Hotmail accounts as well as Microsoft 365 work accounts. Once the mailbox is in Mojobase Email, your agent reaches it through the same tools.

How do I connect Mojobase's MCP server to Claude?

Copy your company's address from Settings → Connect an agent in Mojobase and add it as a custom connector in Claude, or run one command in Claude Code with a key. The Claude page has the steps.
