What is an AI CRM?
An AI CRM is customer relationship software in which AI does the record-keeping and much of the follow-up. It logs emails and meetings by itself, fills in and tidies contact details, summarises each relationship, flags who needs attention and drafts the next message. The difference from a classic CRM: nobody has to type the history in.

What does AI do in a CRM?
AI in a CRM does the jobs people skip: logging, tidying, remembering and following up. A classic CRM fails when nobody keeps it current; an AI CRM keeps itself current and then uses what it knows. The jobs, from the most common to the newest:
| Job | Without AI | With AI |
|---|---|---|
| Logging | Someone pastes each email and call note into the record | Emails, meetings and calls are attached to the right person by themselves |
| Data entry | New contacts typed in by hand | Contacts and companies created from email signatures and meeting invites |
| Enrichment | Job titles and company sizes looked up one by one | Fields filled in from the web or from what was said |
| Summaries | Reading back through months of history before a call | A short brief: who they are, what's open, what was promised |
| Signals | Remembering who to chase | Flags for who's owed a reply, who's gone quiet, which deal has stalled |
| Follow-ups | Writing each email from scratch | Drafts that refer to the last conversation |
| Questions | Building a report | Asking "who hasn't ordered in 60 days?" in plain words |
What are the kinds of AI CRM?
AI CRMs come in three kinds, and the kind matters more than any single feature. It decides whether the AI is helping you keep a record, or whether the record keeps itself.
| Kind | How it works | Examples from vendors' own sites |
|---|---|---|
| Classic CRM with AI added | A pipeline CRM you keep up, with AI assistants and agents on top | HubSpot's Breeze Assistant and Agent Hub; Pipedrive's Nova, which drafts CRM updates from calls for one-click approval; Zoho CRM's Zia Agents |
| AI-native CRM | Built from the start around AI that works on every record | Attio, whose custom agents run a plain-language prompt on each record with a choice of Claude, GPT or Gemini; folk, with follow-up and recap assistants |
| CRM built from the work | No separate record to keep: customers, history and signals come from the email, calendar and payments the business already has | A CRM inside the system where the email and calendar live |
The first kind suits teams that already run a sales process in a CRM. The second suits teams starting fresh who want flexibility. The third suits small teams where the same people sell, support and deliver, and nobody will ever update a CRM by hand.
The sales-pipeline guide explains stages, opportunities and forecasts before you choose how AI should help.
Why does an AI CRM need more than CRM data?
An AI CRM needs more than CRM data because the answers that matter live elsewhere. "Prepare me for Thursday's call with Northside" needs the last emails, the open invoice, the support question from last week and the promise made on the previous call. A CRM that holds only contacts and deal stages gives the AI a thin brief, however good the model.
That's why most CRMs work hard to connect to your email and calendar, and why the most useful AI CRM is the one that sees the most of your actual work: mail, meetings, payments, support conversations and tasks, not just the fields someone filled in.
How is AI priced in a CRM?
AI in a CRM is usually priced on top of seats, as credits or monthly allowances, because every AI action costs the vendor money. These are the models on each company's own pages, checked on 7 November 2026:
- HubSpot: AI is metered in HubSpot Credits, bought in packs or pay-as-you-go, with spend limits per action; tiers include 500 credits (Starter) to 5,000 (Enterprise).
- Attio: monthly AI credits per seat (100 on Free up to 2,500 on Enterprise) and per workspace.
- folk: monthly allowances per plan for enrichment, messages and AI fields.
- Pipedrive: Nova's meeting intelligence is included in all plans at no extra cost.
Ask what a typical month uses. An AI that summarises every record nightly can use far more than one that answers questions when asked.
How do you choose an AI CRM?
Choose by how your customers reach you and how much record-keeping your team will really do. Five questions narrow it down:
- Do you sell through stages and forecasts, or through ongoing relationships?
- Will anyone update it by hand? If not, it has to build itself from email and calendar.
- What can the AI see beyond the CRM: support conversations, invoices, tasks?
- What may the AI change on its own, and is there a log with undo?
- Can your own AI assistant reach it, through an MCP server, so you can ask from Claude or ChatGPT?
How does Mojobase work as an AI CRM?
Mojobase's CRM, part of Customers, is the third kind: it builds itself from the work. It finds the people you've written to and met, groups them by company, and adds customers from Stripe, then shows each person's mail, meetings, invoices, support conversations, tasks and files on one page. It flags who's owed a reply and who's gone quiet for 30 days, and the AI drafts the follow-up using what you last discussed.
The AI adds and edits people and companies with Undo; deleting waits for a person. Your own agent reaches the same records through Mojobase's one MCP server, under the same rules. There are no deal stages or forecasts, so a team selling through a pipeline is better served by Pipedrive or HubSpot. More on the CRM page.

Questions people ask
What is the best AI CRM for a small business?
It depends on how you sell. A team working deals through stages fits a pipeline CRM with AI added, such as Pipedrive or HubSpot. A small team whose customers mostly arrive by email fits a CRM that builds itself from the inbox and calendar, where there's nothing to keep up.
Is HubSpot an AI CRM?
HubSpot is a classic CRM with AI added throughout. Its free CRM lists Breeze Assistant, which researches companies, prepares sales calls and summarises records, and its paid tiers add AI agents. AI actions are metered in HubSpot Credits.
Can AI update my CRM automatically?
Yes, for most of the routine work: logging emails and meetings, adding new contacts, filling in company details and updating fields from what was said. Pipedrive's Nova, for example, drafts CRM updates from calls for one-click approval. Changes to deals and forecasts usually still need a person.
How much does an AI CRM cost?
Usually a per-user price plus an AI allowance. HubSpot meters AI in HubSpot Credits; Attio includes monthly AI credits per seat and per workspace; folk caps AI by monthly allowances per plan. Check what a busy month uses, not just the seat price.
Can I use ChatGPT or Claude with my CRM?
Increasingly, yes, through MCP. Pipedrive has an official MCP server in Claude and ChatGPT, Attio a hosted one, and folk documents connecting to MCP clients. The AI then reads and updates the CRM as you, within your permissions.
