Hermes Agent and Mojobase
Use Hermes Agent with your whole business
Hermes Agent, the open-source agent from Nous Research, connects to Mojobase as a remote MCP server: add your company's address under mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml, with a key or OAuth, and run /reload-mcp. Hermes then reads and drafts across your email, calendar, documents, tasks, customers and Handbook, as you, from the terminal, Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack.

How do you connect Hermes Agent to Mojobase?
With a key (best for a server or a chat bot)
The setup that keeps working when Hermes runs unattended on a server, answers you on Telegram, or runs cron jobs at night. Nothing has to open a browser.
- In Mojobase, open Settings → Connect an agent, make a key and name it Hermes. It's shown once, so copy it.
- Open
~/.hermes/config.yamland add a server calledmojobaseundermcp_servers, withurl: "https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp"and aheadersentryAuthorization: "Bearer YOUR_KEY". - In a running Hermes chat, type
/reload-mcp. A running gateway picks up the change by itself within about a minute. - Ask Hermes "Which Mojobase tools do you have?" to check. You should see tools such as
mail_search,calendar_listandmojobase_search.
With your Mojobase sign-in (OAuth)
For Hermes on your own computer, or Hermes Desktop, where a browser can open. There's no key to store: you sign in to Mojobase once.
- In Mojobase, open Settings → Connect an agent and copy your company's address. It starts with
https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp/. - Add a server called
mojobaseundermcp_serversin~/.hermes/config.yaml, with that address as itsurland the lineauth: oauth. - From a fresh terminal, run
hermes mcp login mojobaseand sign in with your Mojobase account. Hermes keeps the token in~/.hermes/mcp-tokens/and refreshes it. - Type
/reload-mcpin your chat, or restart Hermes.
- What it is: An open-source agent built by Nous Research, under the MIT License, with persistent memory, skills it writes and reuses, and built-in cron1
- Models: Works with Nous Portal, OpenRouter, OpenAI or any endpoint2
- MCP setup: Servers live under mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml; remote ones take a url plus headers, or auth: oauth with hermes mcp login3
- Tool filtering: tools.include and tools.exclude choose which of a server's tools Hermes sees; include wins when both are set4
- Messaging gateway: One gateway for 20+ platforms, including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, Email and Microsoft Teams5
- Scheduled tasks: Jobs set in plain language or cron expressions, delivered to the chat they came from, local files or another platform6
- Who can talk to it: With no allowlist configured, the gateway denies everyone; you allow people by platform allowlists or DM pairing codes7
What can you ask Hermes Agent once it's connected?
- “Every weekday at 7:30, send me a five-line brief on Telegram: new mail, today's meetings, overdue tasks.”
- “Who's been waiting more than two days for a reply from us? Draft the replies.”
- “Find a free hour with Ana next week and hold it.”
- “Which invoices are overdue, and what did we agree with each customer about paying?”
- “Turn this voice note into tasks for the team, due Friday.”
What can Hermes Agent do for a small business once it's connected?
It becomes an assistant that lives in your chat app and knows the whole business. Through Mojobase's one MCP server, Hermes searches every mailbox you can see, reads threads and attachments, checks your calendar and your team's busy times, adds tasks, looks up customers, reads the Handbook's business profile and, for owners, the day's sales in Numbers. You ask from Telegram on your phone; it answers with what's in Mojobase and leaves drafts for you to check.
The jobs owners hand it first:
- The morning brief: new mail that needs a reply, today's meetings with what each one is about, and tasks that slipped.
- "Who's waiting on us?": conversations where the last word is a customer's, with replies drafted from the thread and the Handbook.
- Meeting prep: the last emails with that person, the open tasks, the files and the notes from the last call.
- Late payers: which invoices in Numbers are overdue, and what the email and call notes say was agreed, before anyone chases.
How do you schedule a morning brief with Hermes and Mojobase?
Ask for it in plain words. Hermes manages its own cron jobs, so "every weekday at 7:30, read my Mojobase inbox, today's calendar and overdue tasks, and send me five lines on Telegram" becomes a scheduled job that runs in a fresh session and delivers to the chat you asked from. Each run uses your Mojobase key, so it sees what you see.
For unattended jobs, show Hermes only the tools the job needs. This keeps a nightly run to reading and drafting:
mcp_servers:
mojobase:
url: "https://app.mojobase.ai/mcp"
headers:
Authorization: "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
tools:
exclude: [draft_schedule, task_delete, calendar_delete]
How is Hermes different from Mojobase's own scheduled runs?
Mojobase's runs need nothing installed; Hermes is yours to shape. Mojobase has built-in runs (Morning sweep, New mail, Friday review) that only ever draft and suggest, a rule enforced by the server. Hermes runs on your machine or server, on the model you choose, reaches you in the chat app you already use, and learns skills from your corrections. Use the built-in runs if you want the brief inside Mojobase; use Hermes if you want it in Telegram or WhatsApp, on your own model.
Is it safe to run your business from a Hermes chat bot?
It is when only you can talk to the bot. Hermes's gateway denies everyone until you add people to an allowlist or approve them with a pairing code, and that matters here, because whoever can message the bot acts with your Mojobase key. Keep the allowlist to yourself, treat email text as untrusted, since a message can carry instructions aimed at an AI, and check Activity, where every call Hermes makes is recorded with its name.
Questions people ask
Does Hermes Agent support MCP servers?
Yes. MCP ships with the standard Hermes install. It connects to local servers it starts itself and to remote servers over HTTP, discovers their tools at startup, and lets you hide any tool you don't want it to see.
Can Hermes Agent send email through Mojobase?
Hermes writes drafts recorded under its name. It can schedule them when “Schedule mail, and change what is scheduled” is on in Email Settings → AI and agents. Mail to other addresses also needs Email Settings → General → Send to anyone.
What does running Hermes with Mojobase cost?
Hermes is free and open source; you pay for the model it runs on, through Nous Portal, OpenRouter, OpenAI or your own endpoint. Connecting it to Mojobase costs nothing extra, because agents are never counted as seats.
Can my whole team share one Hermes bot?
Each Mojobase key acts as one person, so a team bot connected with your key acts as you and sees your mail. Give each person their own Hermes profile and their own key, so each one sees only what that person sees.
What happens if a cron job goes wrong?
Every tool call shows in Mojobase's Activity under Hermes's name, with Undo where the app has it. Switching the key off in Settings → Connect an agent stops it at once, without touching Hermes.
