Which should you choose, Mojobase or Intercom?
Choose Intercom if
- You want an AI agent to resolve most questions on its own, and you're comfortable paying for each resolution.
- You support customers over WhatsApp, SMS or phone, or run a large support team with SLAs and many brands.
- You run product tours, checklists and surveys for your users inside your app.
Choose Mojobase if
- Your support team is the same few people who sell, invoice and run the business, and you want one place for all of it.
- You want the AI to draft every answer from your Handbook and reply alone only on the topics you choose. Mojobase is built for 1 to 25 people, and it works well for teams up to 100.
- You want predictable costs: one price per person, not seats plus a charge for every AI outcome.
What's the real difference between Mojobase and Intercom?
Intercom puts an AI agent at the front of support. Fin answers customers in the Messenger on your site and in email, resolves what it can, and hands the rest to people in a shared inbox with ticketing. The company now calls itself Fin, which says where its focus is.
Mojobase puts the support inbox next to the rest of the business. The person answering a question sees the customer's past emails, next meeting, open tasks and unpaid invoices on the same screen, and the AI drafts the answer knowing all of it. For a team of a few people, the advantage isn't answering more questions automatically; it's answering each one correctly without opening five tools.
How do the AI pricing models differ?
Intercom charges for AI by outcome. Each time Fin resolves a conversation, by the customer confirming it, not asking for more help, or Fin completing a workflow, it costs $0.99, with no charge if Fin can't answer. Copilot, the assistant that drafts replies for your team, is $29 an agent a month billed annually or $35 monthly, with 10 free Copilot conversations per agent each month.
Mojobase includes the AI in the per-person price, up to a monthly allowance shared by the company and shown as credits, with a warning before it runs out. You can also run it on your own Claude or ChatGPT, or your company's own API key with a spending limit you set.
Which one costs less for a team of five?
Intercom's Essential plan is $19 a seat a month billed annually for new customers, with a list price of $29 a seat, so five seats are $145 a month before any Fin outcomes. Advanced, which adds a workflow builder, multiple team inboxes and round robin assignment, is $85 a seat billed annually. Mojobase for five is $139 a month on the list price, or $105 for the first 10 companies, with email, CRM, tasks and documents included.
If Fin resolves a few hundred conversations a month, Intercom's bill grows with every one. If it resolves few, Intercom on Essential is the cheaper help desk.
Where is Intercom the better choice?
Intercom is the better choice when AI should handle most support on its own, or when support runs across many channels. Fin is a mature AI agent that also works on top of Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and Freshdesk; Intercom adds WhatsApp, SMS and phone at usage prices, SLAs and multibrand help centers on Expert, and product tours and surveys as add-ons. Mojobase has no phone, SMS or WhatsApp channel, no SLAs and no in-app tours. A software company with thousands of users will usually be better served by Intercom.
What does Mojobase add that a help desk doesn't?
Everything around the conversation. The people who write to support join Customers with their history, so sales and support see the same person. A refund request can become a task, a question about an invoice is answered from Numbers, and the answer to a new question can become a Handbook page that the AI uses from then on. One Quick actions box (⌘K) works across all of it, and Activity records what every person and agent did, with Undo.
Questions people ask
How much does Intercom's Fin cost?
Fin AI Agent is $0.99 per outcome on every Intercom plan, on top of seats. There's no charge if Fin can't answer or the customer asks for a person, and at most one charge per conversation. Fin voice for phone support is $1.99 per voice outcome, through sales.
Is Mojobase cheaper than Intercom?
It depends on how many answers the AI gives. Intercom's Essential plan is $19 a seat a month billed annually for new customers, so $145 for five seats, plus $0.99 for every Fin outcome. Mojobase is $139 a month for five people, with the AI and every other app included.
Does Mojobase have a live chat widget like Intercom's Messenger?
Yes. Messenger puts a chat box on your website that lands in the same Inbox as your support email. The AI answers there only on topics you set to Auto, from your published Handbook pages, and hands everything else to a person.
Can Mojobase answer customers on its own like Fin?
Yes, but by design it does less on its own. It answers only from your published Handbook, only on topics you set to Auto, and hands the conversation to a person when unsure. Everything else is a draft. Intercom's Fin is built to resolve as much as it can.
Does Intercom work with the tools I already use?
Intercom lists more than 450 apps and integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify and Stripe, shown in the inbox. Mojobase holds email, calendar, tasks and customers itself, and reads Shopify, Amazon and the company's Stripe invoices through Settings → Connections.
