# Mojobase vs Basecamp

Basecamp organises projects and team talk, with to-dos, message boards, chat and schedules, at a flat monthly price from $29 for up to five users, and lets you bring your own AI agent. Mojobase runs the business around the projects: email, calendar, customers, invoices, tasks and documents, priced per person with its own AI included.

## Which should you choose, Mojobase or Basecamp?

### Choose Basecamp if

- You want one flat monthly price, however many people join: Pro Unlimited has unlimited users and projects.
- You run client projects with message boards, Card Tables, Hill Charts and automatic check-ins.
- You'd rather not pay for AI inside the product and will connect your own assistant.
- You want a free plan for one small project.

### Choose Mojobase if

- Your projects start and end in email, and you want the AI to draft the replies, chase the invoices and find the tasks.
- You need customers, support and your store's numbers next to the work. Mojobase is built for 1 to 25 people, and it works well for teams up to 100.
- You want AI included for everyone, not only through an assistant you pay for separately.

## What's the real difference between Mojobase and Basecamp?

Basecamp is where a team runs its projects. Each project gets its to-dos, message board, Campfire chat, schedule, docs and files, and Basecamp's message boards are meant to replace email for talking within the team. Mojobase is where a small company runs everything else as well: the email with customers and suppliers, the calendar, the customer list, the support inbox, the invoices and the store's numbers, with tasks and documents in the same place.

The other difference is AI. Basecamp keeps AI out of the product and lets you connect your own: its MCP server and connectors let ChatGPT, Claude or Grok add to-dos, move cards and answer questions about a project. Mojobase has its own AI in every app, and it doesn't wait to be asked. Each morning it can go through new mail, the day's meetings and open tasks, draft the replies, suggest tasks and flag what's stuck.

## How does flat pricing compare with per-person pricing?

Basecamp's price doesn't move with your headcount inside a plan. Freelancer is $29 a month for up to five users and three active projects; Pro is $79 for up to ten users and eight projects; Pro Plus is $99 for up to fifteen users and twelve projects; Pro Unlimited is $199 a month billed annually, or $329 billed monthly, for unlimited users and projects.

Mojobase charges per person: $139 a month for five, $264 for ten. That's more than Basecamp at every size. It's per person because the AI is included, and each person's mail, meetings and tasks add AI work. Agents are never charged as people, and connected mailboxes are unlimited.

## Where is Basecamp the better choice?

Basecamp is the better choice for project work with clients. Clients, co-workers and AI agents can be invited into a project, and its Card Tables, Hill Charts, automatic check-ins and reports are built for seeing how a project is going. Its flat price suits a growing team that wants a fixed bill, and its free Personal plan covers one project for up to three users. Mojobase has no board view, no Hill Charts and no automatic check-ins.

## What does Mojobase do that Basecamp doesn't?

Mojobase holds the work that arrives from outside. It hosts business email on your domain, or connects Gmail and Outlook, and the AI sorts each message and drafts the reply. The people you email and meet become customers automatically, each with their mail, meetings, tasks and unpaid invoices on one page. Numbers reads the company's Stripe invoices and shows what each customer owes. Before drafting a reminder, the AI checks email, meeting notes, team chat and tasks for an agreement to wait. The draft includes Stripe's payment link and waits for a person to send it; Stripe handles payments and status. Support conversations have their own inbox with AI drafts from your Handbook. None of that is in Basecamp, which connects to tools such as Slack, Google Chat and form builders through its integrations instead.

## Questions people ask

### Is Basecamp cheaper than Mojobase?

For most teams, yes. Basecamp's Freelancer plan is $29 a month flat for up to five users and Pro is $79 for up to ten, with no per-user fees. Mojobase is $139 a month for five people. The difference pays for email, a CRM, a support inbox, Stripe invoice tracking and AI included, which Basecamp doesn't offer.

### Does Basecamp have AI?

Basecamp sells no AI assistant of its own on its pricing page. Instead it supports bringing your own: an official MCP server, ChatGPT and Claude connectors and a command-line tool, on every plan including Free. Connected assistants can add to-dos, move cards and post updates.

### Why doesn't Mojobase have flat pricing like Basecamp?

Because the AI is included, and every person using it adds AI cost. Mojobase charges $39 for the first person and $25 for each after, so adding someone always costs the same. Agents never count as people, and guests in Team chat are free.

### Can Mojobase replace Basecamp's message boards and check-ins?

Partly. Team chat has channels, threads and DMs, and the AI gives each thread a title, a one-line summary and "Decided:" once it lands. Mojobase has no message boards, Hill Charts or automatic check-in questions.

### Can clients use Mojobase like they use Basecamp?

Yes, as guests in Team chat: invited by email or link into chosen channels, seeing only those, and free. They can't see your projects in Tasks or your files the way Basecamp clients see a project, so client-facing project work suits Basecamp better.
