# Team chat where AI reads everything so you don't have to

### Talk turns into work

"I'll send the quote Friday" gets a private offer of a task; "let's talk Thursday" an event; a decision, a Handbook update. One click accepts, and every change is in Activity with Undo.

### Agents as teammates

Mojobase's AI and every connected agent are members under their own names, such as "Claude for James". They answer when asked, and their ideas go privately to the person who wrote the message.

### Free guests for customers and contractors

Invite customers, contractors or your accountant by email or link into the channels you choose. They see only those channels and the people in them, are marked Guest with their company's name, and don't take a seat.

## Why does a small team need AI in its chat?

Because chat is where work gets promised and then lost. "I'll send the quote Friday" scrolls away in an hour, the answer to "how do refunds work for wholesale?" is in the owner's head, and a day off means a hundred unread messages. Notifications follow the same idea. DMs, mentions and Needs you items notify you; the rest waits quietly in Catch up. Each channel can be set to All, Needs you or Nothing, and a notification waits ten seconds and doesn't go if you've already read the message.

## How do agents and guests fit in?

Agents and guests are both members of the chat, with tighter rules than the team. Agents connected over [Mojobase's MCP server](https://mojobase.ai/mcp) appear under their own names, and a personal agent's posts say who it acts for. By default they answer only when asked; a channel can switch on "AI may suggest in this channel" if the team wants more.

Guests are invited into chosen channels only. Not every guest is a customer, but many are, and Mojobase keeps each person as one record known by their email address. A guest who is also a customer shows as "Customer · Acme Widgets", and their page in [Customers](https://mojobase.ai/customers) shows the shared channels and the latest messages. "Invite to Chat" on a customer's page and "Add to Customers" on a guest's profile are one click each.

## Does it work on a phone?

Yes, and it opens like WhatsApp: your chats newest first, with the last message and unread count, and Needs you at the top. A chat opens full screen, and a new teammate can join from an invite link in seconds. Notifications work on phones and desktop browsers, and on an iPhone from the Home Screen web app. The push itself carries no message text: the phone wakes and asks Mojobase what to show.

### What is a team chat app?

A team chat app is where a company talks in real time: channels for topics or projects, direct messages between people, and threads to keep each conversation together. Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Chat are the best known. Mojobase Team chat works the same way, inside the app that also holds your email, calendar and tasks.

### Do guests cost extra in Mojobase Team chat?

No. Guests are free and don't take a seat. A guest sees only the channels you invite them into and the people there, can message those people directly, and gets no other app, no Quick actions across apps and no search outside their channels.

### Can the AI read private messages?

Each channel and direct message has its own AI switch, as each mailbox does in Email. In a shared channel, @Mojobase posts only what everyone there may see; anything else goes privately to the person who asked, so nothing private reaches a channel with guests in it.

### Can I move my team over from WhatsApp or Slack?

Yes. A WhatsApp group's "Export chat" file becomes a channel, with people matched by name or number. A Slack export brings channels, people, messages, threads and file links. Imported messages keep their authors and times, and become people's own once they join.

### Does Team chat have voice or video calls?

No. Team chat has no huddles, calls or voice notes. When a conversation needs a call, Calendar books it with the Meet or Zoom link you use, and the notes you take afterwards turn into tasks and a follow-up.

### How long are messages kept?

For as long as your company uses Mojobase. If a company stops paying, it's paused rather than locked: everyone can still read and export, and the data is deleted 90 days later, with warnings first.
