Choose ChatGPT when its workspace and plugins fit the work your team already does; choose Claude when its Projects and connectors give your team a better working process. Judge both on correct completed work, including the time you spend checking and repairing it.

Both entry business plans offer a paid company workspace, with different tools and usage allowances. The practical differences are the interface, the connected services your team needs and how people reuse context.

### ChatGPT: a good choice when the OpenAI workspace fits

ChatGPT is the better choice for a team that already gets reliable results in its workspace and wants its MCP tools available in that workflow. OpenAI documents shared MCP configuration between the ChatGPT desktop app, Codex CLI and IDE extension on the same host. That can matter when an owner and a technical teammate switch between those clients. It does not mean every connection works identically on every device. ### Claude: a good choice when Projects and its connectors fit

Claude is the better choice when your team prefers keeping a recurring job's material in a Project and working through Claude's connector interface. Anthropic's Team documentation lists Projects and workplace connections including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and Slack. ### Neither: a substitute for accessible business records

Neither assistant can reliably answer a question from records it cannot reach. Before paying for a second assistant, check whether the first one has the relevant policy, conversation and current customer details. Better context may improve the result more than changing the assistant's name.

## How much should you budget for five people?

Budget for the seats each person needs, then compare monthly billing with an annual commitment. Check minimum seats, taxes and additional usage before buying. A minimum seat purchase or higher-usage tier can change the quote; budget for the actual package each provider offers.

Claude also lists Premium seats for higher usage; check the current offer before budgeting. Give those to people whose actual workload warrants the cost; five Standard seats and five Premium seats are different purchases. A subscription is not unlimited business automation. Record any extra credits, API use, connected software and staff review time in the budget. Compare that total with a working result, such as a checked proposal or a correctly prepared customer reply.

## How do you test both assistants fairly?

Give each assistant the same five anonymized work samples, the same instructions and access to equivalent source material. Score factual accuracy before style, and count the minutes a person needs to reach a usable result.

Run the exercise with the people who will use the tool, not just the person buying it. Record the model and plan used, whether web search or connected tools were enabled, and any missing information. Repeat a failed job once with a clearer brief to distinguish an instruction problem from a persistent error.

## What should you check before connecting company data?

Check who can enable a connection, whose permissions it uses, what it can change and where information is retained. A no-training default answers one data-use question; it does not settle access, retention or the policies of a connected service.

For a first connected workflow, retrieve a customer record and draft a response before enabling a tool that sends anything. Review the action's destination as well as its wording. A correct draft sent to the wrong customer is still a failed job.

### How much do their business plans cost monthly?

Check the current ChatGPT Business and Claude Team offers for your required seats, billing commitment and usage. This guide does not quote their prices. Include taxes and additional usage in your comparison, and distinguish standard seats from higher-usage options.

### Do business plans train models on our data?

OpenAI says ChatGPT Business does not train on business data by default, and Anthropic makes the same default commitment for Claude Team content. Those commitments do not mean that no data is stored or processed; check retention and connected-service policies separately.
